THE FLICKER

  • Tony Conrad

The rhythmic pulsation of black and transparent frames in The Flicker triggers stroboscopic flashes of light that affect the viewer's retina and gradually allow them to see (imagined) colors and shapes. Conrad wanted to create an ecstatic experience and hoped for mind-expanding effects.
